Vida Lu Cathey, 85, entered into her heavenly rest on October 27, 2021, in Manteca, CA. Vida was born on March 25, 1936, in Santa Maria, CA.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Craig Cathey, who she was married to for 57 years, and by her great-grandson, Cash Jackson Durao.
Vida is survived by her daughters, Danell (Stacy) McCleary and Michell Durao as well as by her five grandchildren, Janell (Chris) Morris, Nicole (Forry) Woodman, Craig (Lindsey) Durao, Brian (Rebecca) McCleary, and Joell (Michael) Beasley. She was also blessed with ten great-grandchildren: Craig Jr., Wesley, Cash, Fulton, Cayley, Hannah, Chace, Levi, Avery, and Caleb.
Vida retired from Franzia Winery in 1987 after 22 years. After living in Sonora, CA for 27 years, Vida returned to Manteca after her husband passed away in 2012 to be closer to her daughters and grandchildren. Vida will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandma, and great-grandma and will be greatly missed.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at
10:00 a.m., at East Union Cemetery and a celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m., at Refuge Church, 486 Button Ave. at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Refuge Children’s Ministries.
