Von David Westover of Manteca, CA, became the newest member of Heaven’s Celestial Choir on July 22, 2020.
When people think of Von, they remember his beautiful and powerful singing voice, his unfailing kindness, his endless collection of puns and dad jokes, his warm spirit, and his undeniable love for his family.
Von was born on October 7, 1956 in Riverside, CA to David Lloyd Westover and Charlotte LaVon Westover. His parents described him as a wonderful child who served as an excellent example to his younger siblings, Darold Westover and Cheryl Thrift. Von would go on to be an incredible athlete, and shared countless lessons and stories with his loved ones about his experiences he had playing baseball and football, never excluding all the injuries he survived along the way. After high school, he went on to serve a two year Spanish speaking mission in Guadalajara, Mexico for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Von would go on to become the father of six beautiful children, Lorelei Wynn, Ky Westover, Tenille Packer, Cristina Hopson, Valerie Loder, and David Westover.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Cristina Westover, whom he celebrated 31 years of marriage with. He is also survived by his mother Charlotte, his siblings, his six children, and his nine grandchildren. He is preceded in his passing by his father and his nephew Tyler Thrift. We take comfort in the idea that he was welcomed into paradise in the loving, familiar arms of our wonderful family.
Services for Von will be held at the Cherokee Memorial Park & Funeral Home on August 6, 2020 at 10 a.m., located at 14165 N. Beckham Rd., Lodi, CA 95240.
