William "Bill" Pinto, age 85, passed away on January 20, 2012 in Manteca.  He was born on October 23, 1926 in Oakland, CA.

Bill is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carolyn Pinto, his children, Jill Pinto Bratton and husband, Scott of Manteca, Gina Pinto Allen and husband, Mike of Ripon, and Mark Pinto of Stockton.  He was blessed with six grandchildren, Madison Allen, Paris Allen, Megan Magill, Krista Bratton, Haley Bratton and Bobby Bratton and one great grandchild, William Jacob Meahan.  Mr. Pinto also leaves behind his brother-in-law, Kevin Fischer of Modesto.

He was an educator in Manteca for 35 years.  Bill was the principal of Shasta Elementary School for 23 years, before his retirement.  He was a volunteer for the Manteca Historical Society where he was a charter member and also had served as a docent.  Bill was also a charter member of the Manteca "Give Every Child A Chance" and was inducted into the Manteca Hall of Fame.  He was an active member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, and served as a board member of St. Anthony's Catholic School. Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Services for Bill Pinto are under the direction of PL Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 N. Union Road, Manteca.  A Memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. at PL Fry & Son Funeral Home.  A reception will follow after the service at the Emory Hall, 1028 W. Yosemite Avenue, Manteca.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Vincent DePaul, 505 E. North Street, Manteca, CA 95336 or the Manteca Historical Society, P.O.
