Five gunshots were fired into an occupied home from a dark colored sedan in the 400 block of East Woodward Avenue at about 7:45 p.m. Saturday.

No one in the home was hit by the gunfire from the car driving down Woodward Avenue, according to Manteca Police spokesman Sgt. Rob Armosino.

The sergeant also said there were reports of a group of six to eight  Hispanic at the nearby Woodward Park firing a weapon into the air.

Witnesses to the gunfire in the park were unable to tell police the direction of travel the shooters took when they fled.

Police said they had no evidence that the gunfire was in any way related to active gang activity.  Spent casings were located at the park but police did not release the caliber of the casings as it might compromise the investigation in matching the bullets lodged in the house.
