Balanced attack leads Shooters to MASL win

Five different players scored as the under-14 girls Shooters shut out Liverpool 5-0 during Manteca Area Soccer League action Saturday at Woodward Park.

Jazmin Carrillo, Ashley Freeman, Alex Lecce, Victorianna Rangel and Meghan Wallace each found net for the Shooters.
Freeman and Michaela Figueroa combined their efforts at goal for the clean sheet.

In other MASL action:

Blizzards 4, Pink Panthers 2
Alicia Patton struck twice for goals, and Jessica Milobar scored once and assisted another in the Blizzards’ victory.

Alex Tolman, who also played goalie in the first half, contributed a goal. Kaitlyn McGriff picked up 10 saves in the second half.

Kickers 6, Blizzards 1
Alex Tolman and Kaitlyn McGriff combined for 12 saves at goal, and Alicia Patton accounted for the Blizzards’ lone score.

United 2, Strikers 0
United did the damage early, as Cynthia Randall struck in the opening minutes, and Nikkie Rodriguez gave the team a two-goal lead by halftime.
Defenders Cheyenne Carter, Linda Crescini, Sophia Vukanovich and goalie Taylor Gray anchored the shutout.

United 6, Pink Panthers 0
Anna Arriola scored twice to lead United, which also got scoring contributions from Cynthia Randall, Nikkie Rodriguez, Sharia Davidson and Victoria Stockdale.

Taylor Gray and Cheyenne Carter shared time in front of the goal to record the shutout. Esperansa De La Riva, April Ramirez and Leticia Paniagua played well defensively.

BOYS

Sporting 7, Magic 2
Franklin Guardado amassed four goals for Sporting. Nathan Lawton, Eduardo Avalos and Simon Torres pitched in with one apiece.

UNDER-12
BOYS
Crushers 6, Chivas 0

 Mathew Higginson poured in two goals and two assists to spearhead the Crushers’ blowout victory.

Brendan Chapman, Tyler Holmes, Everardo Velasquez and Trever Baum added one goal each, and Kyle Hickman chipped in with an assist.
Jonathan White and Holmes were the standout defenders. Bryan Telles and Chapman split time in the goal box and combined for the shutout.

GIRLS

Lady Hawks 5, Strikers 4
Marissa King struck twice, while Megan Kiser and Ariana Folsom netted one each for the Strikers. Brittany Conjin made key saves to keep the Strikers in it, and Carolina Ortega played well at midfield.

Fury 5, Grizzlies 0
Juliana Penera and Monique Angel booted in two goals apiece, and Morgan Gross added one more for good measure.

Kareena Escartin and Angel were hardly tested at goal, as they combined for four saves. Georgia Arriola, Savannah Flores and Taylor Davis dominated on the defensive end, with help from midfielders Bianca Espejo, Lizzy Burila and Sophie Williams.

BOYS

Bolts 4, Scorpions 3
Joseph Lomeli struck twice for goals while Michael Absher had one, but it wasn’t enough for the Scorpions. Basem Monstafa totaled seven saves at goal.

GIRLS

Team United 5, Highlighters 0
Stephania Mercado churned out a sterling effort for United, as she collected four goals. Bryanna Moll added one goal, and Alex Allen contributed with assists.

Kendra Campbell was credited with the shutout with help from defenders Kylee Eberle, Jocelyn Morgan, Hannah Hart and Moll.
