Blizzards too much for hapless Liverpool

The under-14 Blizzards dominated in every facet of their Manteca Area Soccer League match with Liverpool Saturday at Woodward Park, winning 7-1.

Alicia Patton and Samantha Kinard each finished with two goals, and Sierra Downum added one and assisted another. Alex Tolman, the first-half goalie, and Monica Martinez poured in one score apiece.

Tolman ended up with three saves in the first half, and Kaitlyn McGriff had two in the second. Katie Crockett played well defensively and even saved a shot with the keeper out of position to make the play. Gracyn Rusconi, Clarissa Medrano and Kiana Flores also contributed on the defensive end.

Boys
Crushers 6,  Earthquakes 0

Brendan Chapman poured in four goals, while Everardo Velesquez and Jonathan White dropped in one apiece. Matthew Higginson, Trevor Baum, Justin Ruiz and Kyle Hickman each added an assist.

Goalkeeper Bryan Telles recorded the shutout with help from defenders Ricardo Pimentel and Zachary Gosney.

Girls

Fury 1, Lady Hawks 0
Neena Umpad connected with Morgan Gross for the deciding score. Kareena Escartin — aided by fullbacks Monique Angel, Georgia Arriola, Taylor Davis and Savannah Rohloff-Flores — sealed the victory with 10 saves.

Angelina Valdez, Isabel Carman, Lizzy Burila, Sophie Williams and Tessa Petersen played strong at midfield.

Arsenal 7, Breakers 1
Cheyenne Davidson recorded a hat trick, and Kayla Lecce scored twice to highlight the Arsenal’s blowout victory. Cecily Gallardo and Sarah Vegas chipped in a goal apiece, and Davidson also assisted one.

Ashley Miller collected a pair of saves at goal, while Lecce had three in the second half.

Under-10
Boys

Red Bulls 7, Warriors 1
Noah Valdez fired three goals, while Joey Barbuscia, Kyle Wingart, Davey Farfan and Anthony Cavazos added one apiece.

Dominic Tejeda, Travis Mendoes and Carlos Munguia led the Red Bulls defensively.

Chivas USA 4, Bolts 3
Michael Absher accounted for all three of the Bolts’ goals, but they weren’t enough in the back-and-fourth contest. Both teams battled to a 1-all draw by halftime, and the Bolts shot ahead 3-1 early in the second half.

Bolts goalkeeper Basem Monstafa recorded seven saves to keep it close in the first half and added eight more in the second. Defender Alonzo Espejo even had two saves.

Scorpions 4, Pumas 1
Aron Navarrette scored twice, and Kyle Dorland and Joshua Craighead turned in one apiece. Kyle Rachels and goalkeeper Juan Mata each contributed an assist.

Cody Niford, Esteban Castro, Gabriel Cirella and Isaias Mata were standouts on the defensive end.

Girls

Rockets 4, Flames 1
Gwyneth Berry’s two goals would have been enough for the Rockets, who also got scoring contributions from Taysha McGuire and Liliana Pacheco. Madison Burch and Kelley Higginson chipped in with assists.

Noelle Smith and McKenna Pamplin shared time at goal and were protected well by defenders Kelly Stapleton, Kendall Wackerly, Brittney Martin and Jordan D’Amico.

Teenie Wahines 2

Taylor McMahon scored twice for the Teenie Wahines, and Kaley Miller assisted one of those goals. Arianna Solano and Noemi Leon split time in front of the goal.

Bella Castro played well on defense.
