RIPON — Ripon Christian scored all of its runs in the fifth and sixth innings, but the non-league contest was called to darkness, preventing the Knights from completing a comeback in a 10-9 loss to Bret Harte Tuesday.

Trailing 8-0 going to the bottom of the fifth, Josh Welch drove the Knights’ first run by drawing a bases-loaded walk. The Bullfrogs loaded the bases by hitting three straight batters. Aaron Faye then roped a two-run single.

Matt Unruh highlighted Ripon Christian’s six-run sixth inning with a two-RBI homer. Clayton Prins and Faye (3 for 4) chipped in with run-scoring singles.

Josh Evans logged five innings from the hill for the Knights (1-2), striking out six. He also scattered nine hits and three walks. Rodney DeVries had two strikeouts but gave up three hits and two walks in his one inning of work.

Ripon Christian continues its preseason schedule today against visiting Waterford. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
