East Union JV scampers past Ripon

RIPON — East Union’s Emilio Perez Sorarzo scored three touchdowns Thursday, and the Lancers racked up 330 first-half yards on the way to a 43-3 Valley Oak League junior varsity win over host Ripon at Stouffer Field. 

Perez Sorarzo (eight carries, 139 yards) scored on runs of 3, 5 and 62 yards for East Union. Ashton Heath (six carries, 57 yards) added an 8-yard touchdown run, Adrian Telles pulled in an 88-yard scoring pass from Keona Cayode (3 of 8 passing, 12 yards) and Heath made a hard tackle forcing a fumble on an Indians punt attempt, allowing Renald Bacigalupi to recover the fumble for a touchdown. 

Miguel Martin Garcia made a fumble recovery for Ripon.

Ricky Ochoa booted a 28-yard field goal for the Indians in the fourth quarter. Teammate Adam Johnston recovered a fumble.


Lathrop 7, Mountain House 6

The Spartans stuffed a two-point conversion attempt in the game’s final minutes to preserve the Western Athletic Conference win.

Late in the first quarter David DeAnda returned an interception 55 yards for the lone Lathrop score of the game.

Damian Molina led the Spartans rushing attack with 50 yards on seven carries. Xavier Parker-Guerrero made five tackles for Lathrop with Damian Molina and Leonardo Guerrero adding four apiece. Adrian Zuniga recovered a muffed punt. 


Manteca 42, Central Valley 0

The Buffaloes uses a combined frosh-soph team in a non-league tilt with the Hawks with the Manteca sophomores playing just four plays before yielding to the freshmen. 

The Buffaloes racked up 260 yards on 26 carries with Andrew Defrenchi leading the way with 16 carries for 122 yards and scoring runs of 3 and 10 yards. Kaden MacDannald added a touchdown run of 23 yards and a touchdown catch of 29 yards on a pass from Garrison Reis. Tommy Perea Jr. scored on a 33-yard run and Manny Ramirez notched a 3-yard scoring run. 

Isaiah Tariku led the Manteca defense with four tackles with Evan Wulff-Cochrane and Perea Jr. adding three stops apiece. Adrian Rios and Ethan Mathews each recovered a fumble and Anthony Garcia made an interception.
