Sierra kept things close Wednesday but was swept 25-17, 25-19, 25-20 by visiting Edison in non-league volleyball action.
Vanessa Benham led the Timberwolves (3-5) with six kills and five blocks and Vanessa Padilla had four kills and two blocks.
Bear Creek 3, East Union 1
The Lancers (4-3) managed to win just one set against Bear Creek at Dalben Center, 13-25, 25-16, 21-25, 13-25.
“We came out sluggish in the first set and had problems with their middle attack,” East Union coach Rich Posz said. “We adjusted in the second set and were competitive in the third set but lost our energy towards the end of that set.
“We just couldn’t find a rhythm in the fourth.”
Haley England had 14 service points for the Lancers with 14 service points, six aces and four kills. Melissa King added seven kills and Amy Gann five digs.
Sophomores
Sierra 2, Edison 0
Melanie Fox had five assists and two aces for the Timberwolves in their 25-13, 25-13 win. Hailey Steele added three aces and a kill.
Freshmen
Sierra 2, Edison 0
The Timberwolves won a pair of cliffhangers, 25-20, 25-21.
Alexis Surnip had 10 service points for Sierra while Dulce Cruz and Sophia Schmiedt each had a kill.
Lathrop 2,
West-Tracy 0
Strong serving by Karina Chavez and Krystal Tempra led the Spartans (3-0) to the 25-10, 25-18 win.
Jordan Corner led Lathrop with four kills and Yelibeth Ulloa was outstanding on defense.
