Buffs roar back for win after deficit in 1st quarter

Manteca eclipsed a four-point first-quarter deficit with 24 second-period points on the way to a 46-17 Valley Oak League sophomore win over Sierra High  at Daniel Teicheira Memorial Stadium. 

Dom Rea (six carries, 112 yards; two receptions, 59 yards) scored three Buffaloes touchdowns with scoring runs of 22 and 38 yards and a 30-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Ward (4 of 9 passing, 123 yards). Ward had another touchdown on a 54-yard pass to Isaac Searcy (two receptions, 64 yards). Manteca had touchdown runs of 9 yards from Dy’Lon Valentine and 23 yards by Gabe Ramirez. 

Garren Genilla (five tackles) and Bryan Resendiz (four tackles) each recovered a fumble for the Buffaloes and Manual Yepez (three tackles) forced a fumble.

 

Trans-Valley League

Ripon 28, Hughson 14

The Indians rallied with 22 second-half points for the come-from-behind win.

 Troy Brogan (three receptions, 53 yards) pulled in two touchdown catches from Nico Ilardi (7 of 17 passing, 94 yards; three carries, 51 yards). Danny Hernandez (14 carries, 142 yards; two receptions, 37 yards) scored one rushing touchdown and Brandon Rainer (11 carries, 68 yards) scored another.

Ilardi and Grant Wiebe each had an interception.

Southern League

Ripon Christian 30,

Le Grand 15

Ian Vrieling scored three touchdowns for the Knights.

Vrieling totaled 113 yards on seven carries and Drake Nelson (touchdown) added 72 yards on seven carries. 

Jadon Booth led the Ripon Christian defense with nine tackles followed by Wyatt Nichelson (interception) and Drake Nelson with eight tackles each.
