For the better part of the Manteca-Weston Ranch freshman football game the squads played close in an intense Valley Oak League match up. The Buffaloes held an ever so slim12-8 at the intermission.

The Buffaloes would finally find their stride late tightening up on defense and getting a huge second half from Marcus Rivas in a 50-16 win Thursday in VOL action.

Rivas would score the Buffaloes first score of the second half, capping a 68-yard drive with a 5-yard touchdown.

Rivas was far from finished, getting to the end zone four times in all in the 34 point win.

“We came out flat in the first half,” Manteca head coach Jon Shaefer said. “But we stormed back in the second half and scored 32 unanswered points.”

Manteca (2-0, 5-0 overall) remained undefeated on the season and will prepare for a match up with the Sierra Timberwolves Thursday at Sierra.

The Cougars were only able to score one offensive touchdown, breaking loose for a kickoff return late in the fourth quarter for their other score.
