Patriots roll past Spartans in WAC play

MODESTO – The Lathrop freshman managed a touchdown in the second quarter Thursday against a frosh/soph squad from Beyer in a 56-6 Western Athletic Conference win for the Patriots at Johansen High School’s Dan Gonsalves Stadium.

 Christopher Ray found the end zone for the Spartans on a 10-yard run in the second quarter. Luis Hernandez was 7 of 22 passing for 112 passing and Amario Valdovinos had two receptions for 60 yards. 

 Lathrop’s Harold Gary (six tackles) and Noah Martinez (five tackles) each had a pass defended. Luis Hernandez added four tackles and Ralf Corla had two passed defended and two tackles.

East Union 8

 Luke Weaver spotted Gannon Anderson with a 8-yard scoring pass in the third period for the lone Lancers score at Dino Cunial Field.

 Weaver was 8 of 14 passing for 112 yards. Anderson had 43 yards on four receptions and Adam Tinnerello had a 41-yard catch. Marcus Brennan, Gustavo Delagadillo and Kainoa Ontai split the rushing duties.

 Payton Graham led the East Union defense with 11 tackles. Tinnerello had eight stops, Dominic Kempf five with Zane Salgado and Brian Howe each getting a sack.

 

Oakdale 28, Manteca 6

 OAKDALE – The Mustangs broke open a close game with 21 second-half points.

 Dylan Deprater and Joel Yuson split the passing duties for the Buffaloes with Deprater completing 9 of 16 passes for 44 yards and Yuson going 3 of 5 passing for 87 yards and a touchdown. 

 Mason Gandy had five catches for 77 yards and a touchdown and Khalid Robinson made five catches for 52 yards. Yuson picked up 45 yards on nine carries and Corey Franklin added eight carries for 50 yards.

 Yuson (fumble recovery) made seven tackles and Franklin had four.

Non league

Sierra 41, Escalon 0

Marcelo Morales and Jeontay Berry combined for four touchdowns and more than 200 yards for the Timberwolves.

 Morales had four carries for 120 yards and scored on a 95-yard run and 48-yard punt return. Berry scored on his only two carries of 49 and 54 yards for 103 total yards. Ben Wheeler scored on a 48-yard run and Nikko Nunez added a 6-yard touchdown run.

 Nunez racked up 11 tackles with Christian Moore and Wheeler adding five apiece.
