After putting together a solid team effort in its season-opener against Enochs, Sierra High was forced to cope with a 33-20 loss to the Eagles on its home field Friday.

Sierra (0-1) got a huge performance out of Jake Pruitt, who turned in a pair of touchdown runs to pace the Timberwolves.  Sierra also got a score from Dakota Connors in the loss.

The Timberwolves tried in vain to mount a late fourth-quarter comeback. An Enochs interception in the games’ final minute eliminated Sierra’s chances.

Sierra will try and get turned in the right direction Friday when they play host to Davis High of Modesto. Game time is scheduled for a 5 p.m. kickoff.

Ripon 25, Ceres 0

Ripon High came out and dominated on both sides of the football, holding the Ceres Bulldogs out of the end zone in a 25-0 season-opening win Friday in Ripon.

The Indians (1-0) took advantage of strong short yardage running from Tony Burth, who scored a pair of touchdowns in the win. Teammate Josh Clark added a touchdown run, as well as running back Bradley Clark.

The Indians will try and open the season with back-to-back wins when they travel to Linden to take on the Lions Friday.
