Victor Yamamoto scored a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns to lead the Sierra junior varsity team to a 36-26 come-from-behind victory over visiting East Union in Valley Oak League junior varsity action.
Both scoring runs from Yamamoto (16 carries, 80 yards) came from 10 yards out. Zak Willson (19 of 29 passing, 300 yards) threw touchdown passes of 10 yards to John Herrera, 20 yards to Tali Vaipuna and 78 yards to Taylor Rowe (seven catches, 196 yards).
The Sierra defense shut out the Lancers in the second half and was led by Mario Juarez with 11 tackles. Cameron Diego (interception), Joey Habibi, Evan Greenwood, Tali Vaipuna, Isaiah Guerrero all had 5 tackles each.
Payton Robertson, Noah Offman, Collins Schluer, Tali Vaipuna, Hezekiah Griffin and Caleb Love all contributed to the Timberwolves defense.
Central Catholic 24, Manteca 20
The Buffaloes came up inches short on a fourth-down conversion attempt deep in Raiders territory late in the game to give Central Catholic the victory.
Quinn Martinez (11 carries, 74 yards) spotted Manteca to an early 6-0 lead when he returned the opening kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown. Julian Moncada added a 10-yard touchdown run and Preston Smith (5 of 13 passing, 77 yards) hit Santana Stevenson with a 44-yard touchdown pass.
Luis Rosas led the Buffaloes with six tackles. Noah Alejandro (fumble recovery) added five stops with three apiece for Demariae Long (forced fumble) and Isaiah Alcocer (fumble recovery). Johan Peringelli forced a fumble.
Lathrop 20, Los Banos 6
Jordan Blase connected with Chris Ramos for two touchdown passes to lead the Spartans in the Western Athletic Conference win.
Blase (5 of 7 passing, 96 yards) had scoring throws of 34 and 47 yards to Ramos (two receptions, 76 yards; six carries, 46 yards). Jayden Tiger (23 carries, 118 yards) added a 12-yard touchdown run. Humza Habibi contributed to the offense.
Lathrop’s Michael Smith was in on seven tackles, John Oscona six and Christiano Erazo, Habibi, and Casyn Hopping added four apiece. Trey’Saun Miller made an interception.
