Ward propels Buffs past Oakdale

OAKDALE — Ryan Ward threw three touchdown passes and ran for another score, as the Manteca sophomore football team blanked Oakdale in the first half and never trailed en route to a 36-14 victory at The Corral. 
Ward (14 of 20 passing, 218 yards) had scoring throws of 10 and 22 yards to Marc Buenrostro (four receptions, 61 yards) and 11 yards to Isaac Searcy (two receptions, 18 yards; nine carries, 56 yards). Ward kept it for a 2-yard touchdown run and Dom Rea (10 carries, 43 yards; three receptions, 89 yards) scored on a 5-yard run. Gabe Ramirez added 31 yards on three catches.
Searcy (six tackles) and Buenrostro (four tackles) each had an interception. Rea (three tackles) and Jacob Logan both recovered a fumble while Evans Nicolas (three tackles) and Joseph Saylor each forced a fumble.
C. Catholic 41, E. Union 7
East Union’s Nicco Cedolini grabbed a 32-yard scoring pass from Eric Morales on the last play of the third quarter at Dino Cunial Field.
Cedolini was 5 of 12 passing for 61 yards and Leo Bonilla added 35 yards on nine carries.
Alex Yang led the Lancers defense with 10 tackles. Bonilla and Alex Duenes added five stops apiece.

Jacob Van Groningen threw for two touchdowns and more than 200 yards in a pinpoint passing night for the Knights.
Van Groningen was 13 of 15 passing for 256 yards with a touchdown throw to Jadon Booth (three receptions, 53 yards) and another to Jake Grondz (two receptions 64 yards). Declan Van Vuren pulled in five receptions for 73 yards.
Ian Vrieling (four carries, 20 yards; two receptions, 50 yards), Cole Gemmel (five carries, 22 yards) and Drake Nelson (seven carries, 32 yards) all had a touchdown run for Ripon Christian.

Danny Hernandez scored two touchdowns on the ground, caught another and scored a fourth on a blocked field-goal attempt for the visiting Indians.
Hernandez ran for 106 yards, returned that blocked field-goal attempt 89 yards, and caught a scoring pass from Niko Illardi (2 for 2 passing, 31 yards, touchdown; 13 yards rushing, touchdown). 
Brandon Rainer (134 yards rushing) scored two touchdowns for Ripon on the ground and one on an 85-yard kickoff return. Grant Weibe ran for 73 yards and scored a touchdown.
