The accolades continue to pour in for Sierra High’s softball team more than a month after it completed its 2013 season.

Junior Allie Walljasper was named to the All-State Softball First Team and All-State Medium Schools Team. Joining her is UC Riverside-bound senior Sommer Wilson, who earned a spot in the All-State Medium Schools infield.

Kimball High shortstop Arianna Hawkins was the only other Valley Oak League player honored. She was selected to the All-State Medium Schools Team. Sierra OF/1B Iyana Hughes will soon be Hawkins’ teammate at the University of Virginia.

Walljasper was tabbed a “utility player” (pitcher/hitter) on the All-State First Team and qualified for the medium-schools list as a pitcher. Committed to LSU, the 6-foot-1 juggernaut led the Timberwolves (25-2) to their second Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV and VOL championships in three years. She was 18-2 with a 0.47 ERA and 227 strikeouts from the pitcher’s circle, and hit .482 with 20 RBIs from the batter’s box.

Wilson boasted a .949 fielding percentage from second base and was the Timberwolves’ top hitter. She batted .484 with six home runs and 28 RBIs.

The Timberwolves are certainly no stranger to Cal-Hi Sports. Last month, the online publication crowned Sierra as its mythical Division III state champion.
