LATHROP — Kaitlynn Funsch and Alexa Mayen each scored a goal and assisted two others to help Manteca defeat Lathrop 6-2 in a Valley Oak League make-up match Friday.
Funsch helped get the Buffaloes (7-3-1, 13-5-2 overall) by finding Madison Burch and Sarah Vegas for the game’s first two goals. Kaley Miller expanded the lead off a feed from Alison Hoyer.
Lathrop (4-7, 4-9) made things interesting by getting consecutive goals from Kassandra Ceja and Jessica McNair. Carly Morrish, Funsch and Mayen then struck in order to seal it for the Buffs.
Caitlin McVeigh (five saves) and Tawny Deerinck (three saves) split time in the Manteca goal. Noelle Smith tallied 12 saves for the Spartans.
