Buffaloes still perfect in VOL

The Manteca High tennis team dominated East Union in each match, taking down each singles and doubles match in a 9-0 victory Thursday in Valley Oak League action.

Manteca (4-0, 7-2 overall) had little trouble with the Lancers, dropping only two sets the entire match. Rosa Zou and East Union’s Rebekah Jacobson battled, with Zou taking the match 4-6, 6-2, 6-1. Wendy Lin won 6-2, 6-1 and Adaeze Nkwocha won 6-1, 6-0. Kaile Hunt and Liz Diaz teamed up for a 6-2, 6-0 win, while teammates Julia Saling and Sealy McAdams beat Deanna Baker and Victoria Vezaldenos 3-6, 6-2, 7-5. Katie Inderbitzin and Elizabeth Tolbert cruised in their 6-3, 6-2 straight sets win.

The Buffaloes will be off from varisty matches for a week, coming back with a league meeting with Kimball on Sept. 20. The junior varsity club will take on Lathrop in a JV match.

Sierra 8, Weston Ranch 1

Sierra came out on the visiting Cougars and never let up, putting together an 8-1 win over Weston Ranch Thursday in league play.

Sierra No. 1 Vannida Nguyen took down Chelsey Olitan 6-1, 6-0, while teammate Naomi Nunis handled Weston Ranch’s Delarine Barlut 6-1, 6-4. Stephanie Millan Renee  Royster-West earned the Cougars lone win in a 7-6, 10-5 win in doubles action.
