EU, RC fall in pivotal matches to 1st-place teams

Oakdale extended its lead in the Valley Oak League on Tuesday, toppling host East Union 227-251 at Manteca Park Golf Course.
Maddie Blanc and Allie Denning shared medalist honors, shooting 6-over-par 43s on the front nine for the undefeated Mustangs.
East Union (7-2) was led by Natalie Cowan’s 46.
Melinda Amick (49), Kendra Campbell (50), Hayley Leonard (53) and Kennedy Goodnough (53) rounded out scoring for the Lancers, who will look to bounce back today against Manteca.

Central Catholic 251, Sierra 337
MODESTO — Mbeneka Maithya finished with an even 37 to pace Central Catholic at Dryden Park Golf Course. Gianna Van Klaveren added a 43.
Sierra’s Bryanna Gavino shot a 47 for third place. Other Timberwolves scorers were Hailee Looney (63), Hallie Trczinski (75), Andie Gonzales (76) and Kailee Lencioni (76).

VFL South Division
Riverbank 187, Ripon Christian 196
RIPON — Ripon Christian (4-3) had a chance to gain ground on the Valley Foothill League South Division-leading Bruins (8-0).
Ripon Christian’s Madi de Graaf carded a 10-over 42 at Jack Tone Golf Course. Daylor De Abreu (48), Perris Larson (52) and Marika Bos (54) were the Knights’ other scoring contributors.

VFL North Division
Ripon 233, Sonora 238
SONORA — The Indians (4-4) evened their VFL North record with the big win at Mountain Springs Golf Course.
Kassidy Isham (57), Myra Toldedo (58), Bianca Toledo (59) and Emily Harris (59) spearheaded Ripon. Sonora’s Emma Peller (50) and Morgan St. Pierre (55) were the top two finishers.
