GIRLS SOCCER: Barnes, Knights overwhelm Orestimba

 NEWMAN — Brooke Barnes scored three goals and assisted another for Ripon Christian, which pasted Orestimba 9-0 on Wednesday to stay in range of Trans Valley League co-leaders Ripon and Hilmar.

The Knights (5-2 TVL, 10-6-1 overall) blew it open early and led by seven goals by halftime. Morgan Schenk saved three shots from Orestimba (0-6-1, 2-11-1), as the defense held for its third league shutout of the season.

Kylie Koolhaas contributed a brace to the attack. Alanna Blanco added one goal and two assists. Lauren Mouw also dished out a pair of assists.

Raegan Burgess, Reece Drost and freshman Caitlin Walton pitched in one goal apiece. Tatum Sonke and Kate Van Groningen each had an assist.
