Now at full strength, Mariposa High’s girls basketball team was ready to give Southern League Ripon Christian newcomer more of a fight in their rematch Thursday.

It wasn’t as out of hand as it was in their first meeting, but it was still an easy win for the visiting Knights, 49-33.

The Grizzlies (3-5, 9-12 overall) had three starters out with injuries in their 62-19 conference-opening loss at Ripon Christian Jan. 3. On Thursday, Ripon Christian (7-1, 14-4) nursed a 15-11 lead to start the second quarter before widening the gap with a 17-7 run.

“They are a much different, much better team with those girls back,” said RC coach Ed Mulder.

Mikaela Alger anchored RC with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Twin sister Morgan Alger contributed 12 points, and Kaylie Colyn handed out six assists.
