Lancers finish third straight perfect season

Another year, another 14-0 record.

The East Union High girls golf team wrapped up its third straight perfect season in dual-match play Monday, defeating rival Sierra, the Valley Oak League’s second-place squad, 237-254 at Manteca Park Golf Course Monday.

The Lancers will look to capture their third straight conference championship and fourth in five years in the VOL Championships today at Brookside Country Club in Stockton. East Union is also the three-time Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV champion.

Jackie Ketner spearheaded East Union’s solid round with a 6-over-par 43 for medalist honors. Teammate Frances Telles and Sierra’s Alicia Kmiec trailed the leader by two strokes.

Also contributing to East Union’s victory were Jillian Goulart with a 47, Tori Souza a 50 and Salina Tiscareno a 51. Heather Craft recorded the throw-out score with a 53.

Chipping in for Sierra were Amanda Orr with a 48, Ashley Kiesel a 50, Heather Schmitz a 54, Allison Smith a 57 and Lauren Moorvit with a throw-out of 72.

The VOL tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. today.
