Lancers giddy after Gigli comes up grand

LATHROP – Steven Gigli went 4 for 4 with six RBIs and a grand slam Friday afternoon as the East Union sophomore baseball team blasted Lathrop, 22-3, on the road.

East Union plated 16 runs through the first three.

Justin Dias was 3 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs, and Colby Seibel went 2 for 2 with three runs scored.

Nick Hofer legged out a triple.

The Spartans were led by Jaime Christopherson, who belted a two-run shot in the fifth.

SOFTBALL
Manteca 30, Central Valley 3
Danielle Doorink struck out five in four innings of work, allowing three runs.

She had way more breathing room than that.

Among the many offensive highlights for the Buffaloes, Mia Ramirez went 6 for 6 with a triple and six runs scored, Tessa Solario was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs, Tara Dadasovich went 4 for 6 with a double, a triple, four runs scored and seven RBIs, and Dallas Mould went 4 for 6 with two doubles and four runs batted in.

Rochelle Perez (2B, 3B) had four hits and three RBIs, while both Aime Douglas and Kareena Fox drove in one each.

Cassandra Gonzalez had a pair of knocks and RBIs, respectively, Sierra Garcia had three hits and two RBIs, and Ashley Stone rapped out two hits.

Savanna Reed also had two hits, and she knocked in a run.

Manteca (7-4 Valley Oak League, 9-6) heads to Weston Ranch Wednesday.

East Union 6, Ceres 1
Stephanee Sabala (assist) and Melissa Gomez each had two goals for the victorious Lancers, while Julianna Perez and Nadia Castillo had a goal and an assist each.

Kelsey Gormley and Adriana Alvarenga had an assist apiece.

Alvarenga, Shanae Haroldson, Nataly Vazquez, Bianca Wesley, Alicia Espericueta and Andrea Arce held Ceres to just one shot on goal.
