After getting things going with three runs in the top of the first, the Manteca Buffaloes would add insurance runs in the fifth, sixth, and seventh on their way to an 8-2 win Thursday in Valley Oak League over Lathrop High.

The Buffaloes outhit the Lathrop Spartans 15-6, surrendering two runs to the Spartans in the third and cruising the remainder of the way.

Peyton Rose was 3 for 4 and was the winning pitcher, while teammate Selena Gonzalez was 4 for 4. Gonzalez drove in a run and came around to score three times. Celina Cooper was 2 for 4 with two doubles and four RBI.

All but two Buffaloes recorded hits in the contest, with Mia Ramirez, Anissa Gonzalez, Nicole Magnuson, Hailee Teixeira and Jessica Munoz all recorded a hit. Anissa Gonzalez also scored twice.

Rose went the distance in the circle, striking out five and scattering the six hits. Rose only handed out one free pass and did not hit a batter.
