Within 15 minutes the East Union boys’ soccer team had already built a solid lead over Ceres and they kept scoring and scoring and scoring in a 6-0 road win on Thursday.

By the time that the final whistle blew in the team’s last non-league game, the Lancers had amassed a 6-0 lead and polished off a perfect week heading into Valley Oak League Play against Weston Ranch on Monday.

“I think that we moved the ball around really well – we were able to go side-to-side and front-to-back and even get the goalkeeper involved,” East Union coach Victor Polanco said. “I was happy with how we finished and how we created opportunities by winning challenges and making them work for us.”

Gerardo Romero scored a pair of goals for the Lancers, while Tomas Suarez, Marcos Gonzalez and Oscar Naranjo also found the back of the net.

Manteca 4, Escalon 0

Score early. Score often.

That proved to be the winning combination for the Buffaloes in their 4-0 non-league victory over visiting Escalon – the team’s final tune-up before the Valley Oak League season starts on Monday.

“I was happy with the way that we moved the ball around today – we tried to get one or two touches before we made a move,” Manteca head coach Justin Coenenberg said. “We missed some opportunities but we also had some good shots on goal. I was pleased with the way that we worked today as a team.”

Braulio Solis scored Manteca’s first goal just nine minutes into the contest and was assisted by John Kong. Edgar Oropeza and Aron Navarrette also scored for Manteca.
