JACKSON — Austin Ries picked a good time catch fire for Ripon Christian in the Knights’ Argonaut Quarterback Club semifinal with Bradshaw Christian on Friday.
He accounted for 13 of his team’s 28 points in the fourth quarter, including two straight 3-pointers that propelled RC to a 74-67 win.
Ries finished with a game-high 20 points. Andrew Vander Weide and Jacob Vander Hoek dominated in the paint, scoring 16 and 11 points, respectively.
“We were able to handle their pressure and we had nice balance between our guards and inside players,” Ripon Christian coach Mark Hofman said.
Dontrell Hewlett and Santana Brim netted 16 points apiece for Bradshaw (2-1). The Knight (4-2) tangle with tourney host Argonaut or Hughes Academy for the championship today.

Ripon 54, Ceres 49
TURLOCK — Ripon (2-3) avenged one of its early-season losses in the consolation-bracket semifinal of the Godinez Tournament.
Kyle Sisk led the way with 19 points, while James Gaalswyk pumped in 10. Sophomore Daulton Durossette buried his last three 3-pointers in the fourth quarter and scored a game-high 22 points for Ceres (2-4).

Turlock 67, East Union 37
TURLOCK — The Lancers (2-4) struggled with turnovers in their Godinez Tournament semifinal Friday.
Turlock (4-0), which squares off with intra-city rival Pitman in the title game today, built a 29-13 halftime lead and put it away with a 26-point outburst in the third period.
Blake Greenlee paced East Union with 19 points, and Cameran Sherwood turned in 16 for the Bulldogs. East Union plays Golden Valley of Merced for third place today.

Gregori 72, Manteca 54
MODESTO —  Manteca (0-3) shot out to an 18-11 first-quarter lead but was limited to just two points in the second before giving up 26 in the third.
Michael Ballard recorded 16 points and five assists. Kyle Bolding added 12 points, Derek Range pulled down nine rebounds and Sal Safi chipped in eight points.
Gregori (4-1) was anchored by Tremayne Whatley’s 26 points and James Bland’s 22.

Gregori 72, Manteca 59
MODESTO — Rashawn Ballard fired 18 of his 21 points in the second half, but it wasn’t enough for the Buffaloes (2-1).
Nick Bell contributed 14 points before fouling out, and Kevin Amayizca had 11. Manteca only had seven players suit up, while Gregori had 12 of its 15 players score.
