Ripon Christian’s girls basketball has dominated second quarters of late.
The Knights shut out Waterford in the second period Monday en route to a 58-31 thrashing of the host Wildcats. Twice in the three Southern League games has Ripon Christian (8-0, 14-3 overall) blanked an opponent in the second, and it gave up a total of 11 points in its last four second quarters.
Waterford (2-6, 7-14) was competitive at the start and was down 16-11 at the end of the first.
Teagan Manus led the way with 15 points, Amber Hilvers pitched in 11 and Ellen Blankers tallied eight.
Sophomore
Ripon Christian 46, Waterford 13
The Knights (7-0, 17-6) got 10 points apiece from Jessica Orozco and Jessica Van Vliet. Van Vliet also pulled down 11 rebounds.
Bailey Broker and Julia Ray each added eight points.
Freshman
Ripon Christian 39, Hilmar 31
Beth Westesteyn continued her tear of double-double efforts Monday with a 15 points and 13 rebounds.
Molly Hoeksma scored 10 points, while Lyndsey Van Groningen contributed eight points and seven rebounds for the Knights (12-4).
Ripon Christian blanks Waterford in second
