Ripon Knights rally to defeat Modesto Patriots

Nolan Lingley’s 5-yard touchdown run in the fourth period Saturday keyed a 20-14 come-from-behind win for the Ripon Knights varsity over the host Modesto Patriots at Downey High School in Trans Valley Youth Football League action.

 Sean McGovern got the other two Ripon touchdowns on runs of 15 yards in the second period and 20 in the third.

 Maximus Steele had a good day at running back for the Knights. Quarterback Lingley connected with Jacob Van Groningen three times and Ian Vrieling and Wyatt Nichelson once apiece. Garrett Bryan and Josh Grabowski blocked well.

 Ian Vrieling (interception) led the defense with outstanding effort from Nathan McGaffee, Grabowski, McGovern and Steele.

 Hunter Steele had two touchdowns and Devon Richardson one for the Knights. with 1 touchdown.

 Landon Corcoran had an interception and Mario Garcia with a fumble recovery to spearhead the defensive attack of Gavin Decena, Mason Durao, Dax Beidleman, Matthew Chapman, James Garcia, Alax Hinojosa, Josh Jacobson, and Jaiden Rodrigues that shut out the Patriots.
