Ripon starts tournament with 2 wins

Ripon’s Friday game with Gustine in the Linden Softball Tournament was rained out, but the Indians started the tournament Thursday with two wins.

The Indians (3-1) used a 17-hit barrage to overpower the Rams in the nightcap Thursday.
Hana Lee, Mikaela Ferreira, Felicia Ceja and Sierra Silva each had three hits to pace Ripon and Mikaela Ferreira hit her second home run of the season.
Lilly Dillard threw an abbreviated perfect game with the contest ending early due to the mercy rule.

Danielle Sperry threw a two-hit shutout and struck out 11 for the Indians.
Ripon scored three runs in the fifth inning when Ferreira doubled in Hoku Lee. Later in the frame Taylor Jaquez launched a triple – her second of the game – to score Ferreira and Shay Furtado.
The Indians took a 1-0 lead into the 4th when Taylor Jaquez led off the 4th with a line drive triple. 
In the fifth, Hoku Lee bunted for a single to lead off the inning. Two hitters later, Ferreira doubled, driving in Lee followed by a hit by pitch to Shay Furtado. Jaquez brought in Furtado by launching her second triple of the game.
Sydney Vernon knocked in Jaquez twice – once on a sacrifice fly to center in the fourth and on a single in the fifth.
Hana Lee and Hoku Lee had back-to-back singles to start the sixth for the Indians and Ceja had a sacrifice fly later in the frame for the game’s last run.
