Ripon gets its wish: Another crack at Trans-Valley League rival Hilmar.

It was made possible Thursday when the sixth-seeded Indians travelled to San Andreas and prevailed 25-22, 25-18, 25-23 over Calaveras, the No. 3 team in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV playoffs.

Ripon (20-10) heads to Hilmar (37-8) next Tuesday for the semifinals. No. 2 Hilmar swept Bear River 25-17, 25-18, 25-10 on Tuesday. The Indians competed well with the TVL champion in two league losses.

“So proud of my girls,” Ripon coach Adrienne Beltrami said. “They played strong all the way around. We were calm, confident and set the tone.

“We are enjoying the ‘W’ tonight and will be focused on Hilmar tomorrow.”

Middle blockers Breana Barrios and Karissa Carlson did their usual damage at the net Sam McCreath and Shannon Wesley on the outsides. Emily O’Brien and Ashlyn Eisenga played well defensively and on serve receive.

Southern League champion Ripon Christian (27-6), seeded eighth, had its season ended by No. 1 Sonora (31-5), 17-25, 13-25, 11-25. Sonora hosts No. 4 Escalon in the other semifinal. Both matches are scheduled to start at 7.
