The Sac-Joaquin Section’s top-ranked 182-pounder coasted to a SJS Division V Tournament title Saturday at Hughson High.

Ripon High standout Trevor Smith dominated Summerville’s Jesse Stoy in a 13-0 major decision and earned  a berth to this week’s SJS Masters Tournament — the qualifier for the California Interscholastic Federation State Championships.

Three more grapplers from the Trans-Valley League and Division V Team Duals championship squad will advance.

In the 160-pound title round, Bret Harte’s Tanner Sherrow edged out Trevor Smith, 3-2. They are ranked sixth and seventh, respectively, by The California Wrestler.

Ripon’s Corey Goodwin and Andy Yciano also placed in the top four in their weight classes to qualify. Goodwin fell to Bret Harte’s Aaron Richey by fall in the 126-pound third-place match, while Yciano was defeated 3-0 by Escalon’s Travis James at 220 to also settle for fourth.

The Indians ended up fifth in the team scoring with 137.5 points, following first-place Calaveras (206),  Escalon (161.5), Summerville (142) and Bret Harte (138).

The two-day Masters Tournament begins at 9 a.m. Thursday at Stockton Arena.
