Ripon sophomore Cru Sullivan earned low-medalist honors with an impressive 6-under-par 66 on Monday in the Aiello Invitational at Discovery Bay Golf & Country Club.
He led the Indians to a fifth-place finish out in the 21-school tournament. San Ramon Valley claimed the team title, edging out California of Pleasanton 372-373. Third-place Amador Valley netted a 378, while Ripon turned in a 383.
Andrew Bogetti finished 2-over for the Indians. Alan Bunchien chipped in a 78, Richie Hughes an 81 and Morgan McDonald an 84.
Cooper Mapes of Amador Valley was the individual runner-up with a 69.
Ripon next competes in the third Trans Valley League tournament of the season Thursday at Teleli Club.
BASEBALL
East Union 5, Enochs 1
The Lancers (9-3) opened the non-league contest in Modesto with a three-run rally in the first inning, and the pitching and defense took it from there.
Winning pitcher Cage Woodall gave up six hits and one walk over six innings. Julian Ledesma faced four batters and struck out two of them in the hitless bottom of the seventh inning.
Brayden Camara led the East Union attack, going 2 for 2 with a walk, a triple, a run and an RBI. Jackson Fay added two hits, two steals and one run. Lincoln Coenenberg added an RBI double.
Brooks Opashi knocked in Bryan Delgado in the fourth inning for Enochs (3-5).
SOFTBALL
Ripon 12, Riverbank 1 (5)
Winning pitcher Angelina Martinez struck out five in three one-hit innings and was 3 for 3 with a homer, two runs and three RBIs at the plate.
Malia Arroyo (double), Ellie Spurzem and Izabelle Spurzem (four runs, two RBIs) knocked in two runs apiece. Clara Townsend finished 2 for 4 with two runs scored. She also pitched two innings in relief.
