Sierra dominates swimming double dual

Sierra’s boys and girls swimming teams didn’t have much struggle picking up a pair of victories Tuesday afternoon over Valley Oak League opponents Weston Ranch and Lathrop.

The Timberwolves’ girls’ team defeated Lathrop 135.5-22.5 and then dropped the Cougars 111-49. Sierra’s boys’ squad cruised past the Spartans 107-51, and then knocked off Weston Ranch 117-46.

Sierra’s John Buonauro, Scott Tolman, Neil Sandberg and Gabriel Ortega won the 200 medley relay (1:57.54) and the 200 free relay (1:43.12).

That foursome also won the 400 free relay with a 3:48.48 – a time that qualified them for the Sac-Joaquin Section frosh-soph swimming trials later in the postseason.

Sammy Kizlin won the 100 breaststroke and the 100 butterfly, while Jacob Hampton captured the 100 backstroke victory. Tolman took first in the 500 free and Sandberg won the 100 free. Buonauro took the gold in the 200 Individual Medley, while Zach Thomas took the 200 free.

Lathrop’s Josh Lemos placed first in the 50 free with a 30.87.

On the girls’ side, Sierra’s 200 medley relay team and the 200 and 400 free relay teams each took first place. Ashlea Green wrapped up in first in the 200 free with a 2:23.44. Paige VanLaar finished first in the 200 IM and Lindsey Walker was the winner of the 50 free.

Hannah Astorga took first for the T’Wolves in the 100 fly with a 1:19.22. Andrew Cruz claimed first in the 100 free and Allyson Walker took first in the 500 free. Natalie Randolph took first in the 100 back with a 1;10.26 and Amy Windschitl finished first in the 100 breast (1:24.70).
