Sierra and East Union showed why they are considered the Valley Oak League’s premier golf programs Thursday at Manteca Park Golf Course in a 197-211 Timberwolves win.
Sierra’s 197, which was highlighted by three sub-40 rounds, was two strokes off the T’Wolves’ season-best pace.
East Union, meanwhile, inked its season-low round for the second time in as many days.
“It was a very good day for both teams,” Sierra head coach Jeff Williams said. “It was very competitive. East Union is really getting better and we were very consistent.”
Miguel Dominguez, Michael Hajenga and Sammy Matts all shot 39’s for Sierra, while Kyle Harman collected medalist honors for the Lancers, shooing a incredible 2-under-par 34, a day after turning in a 38.
“Kyle was unbelievably impressive,” Williams said.
Joey Matts and Paul Michaleto both shot 40 for Sierra and Luis Zepeda shot a 42 after losing a ball in the trees.
EU’s Guillermo Barajas also shot 42 after a triple-bogey on one. Barajas recovered with six straight pars.
Ryan Plumb turned in a 44, Tanner Bragg a 46, Jordan Duvall a 45.
