champion Manteca.

Three freshman factored into the scoring for the visiting Lancers (8-3 Valley Oak League, 9-3 overall), with Jenna Campbell coming through on the finishing end of both. She scored the go-ahead with about six minutes remaining.

Sophomore sensation Cameron Silva, the league’s MVP last year, tallied Manteca’s goal, which tied it before halftime. The Buffaloes (7-2-1, 10-2-1) host Central Catholic tonight for its finale.

“This is a huge win for our program and something this team wanted to do since the first week of the season,” East Union coach Jason Silva said. “We kept getting stronger every week and our team chemistry was peaking at the right time.

“Leading up to this game we knew it would tough, but these girls had so much confidence, something they’ve lacked in previous meetings against Manteca. It’s definitely a great way to end the season.”

The Lancers got the upper-hand in the opening minutes when Campbell won a corner kick from Tallon Cervantez in front of the goal box and placed it into the open net. Defender Olivia Morgan set up the winner with a long throw-in.

Fourth-year goalie Kylie Mendez came up big for East Union, stopping multiple 1-on-1 opportunities en route to 15 saves.

San Jose State-bound Tiana Cello goes out with a hat trick, while Cal State East Bay signee Jenna Villanueva had a brace to go with three assists. Fellow senior Nicole Martin added two goals and two assists.

Adding a goal each were senior Melanie Nguyen, Zoie Willson, Sutton Denny, Annika Rose, Lela Schuler and Kaitlyn Berdiago. Payton Abrew, Annika Beall, Jocelyn Roa and Willson provided one assist apiece.

Allison Jacinto scored for the Cougars.

Ariana Scholten had a fitting end to her four-year varsity career for Ripon.

She had a part in the Indians’ first two goals in the sixth and 12th minutes, first finding fellow senior Kailey Tijero with a corner kick for a headed goal — a common occurrence during their run to three straight NorCal Regional playoff appearances. The University of San Diego-bound Scholten then scored on a long-range, right-footed banger assisted by Ariana Daniels.

Daniels capped scoring four minutes into the second half, with Jaydin Kroutil recording the assist. Goalie Kendra Carlson had one save in the shutout.
