SOCCER: Silva sparks Manteca to lopsided victory

Manteca’s girls soccer team has sole possession of second place in the Valley Oak League after trouncing visiting Central Catholic 7-0 on Friday.
The Buffaloes (6-1-1, 15-1-3 overall) were tied with Kimball, which was vanquished by league-leading Sierra. Manteca hosts Kimball next Monday.
Freshman Cameron Silva helped the Buffs build a 3-0 halftime lead, assisting Mia Watson’s early goal before putting away two of her own.
Isabella Avila, MaryAnne Bueno and Kaley Miller each had a goal and an assist. Esmeralda Ochoa also scored one. Caitlynn Wong dished out a pair of assists, while Melissa Poncini contributed one.

East Union 1, Oakdale 0
The Lancers (5-3, 7-7-2) held on for the win, getting the second-half tally from Taylor McMahon.
Kylie Mendez and Malia Allen shared time in goal, recording two saves apiece.
