Spreckels Park sent more batters to the plate in the fourth inning Saturday the Turlock National did in the first three innings combined on the way to a 13-2 Spreckels Park win in opening-round action of the Little League Section 6 Senior All-Star Tournament on Saturday at Linden High.

Clinging to a 1-0 lead after three innings, Spreckels Park scored nine runs and had 13 batters in the fourth inning with Rob Karbowski starting the frame with a free base after being hit and in his second-at bat of the inning doing some hitting of his own, belting a two-RBI double for one of three doubles in the frame. Also in the fourth inning Jesse Babauta (2 for 4, three RBI, two runs, walk) had a two-RBI double with three RBI and Jesse Ochoa (2 for 3, double) had a double.

Tanner Peterson (walk, two runs) and Abe Velasco were 2 for 3 with for Spreckels Park and Anthony Arredondo was 2 for 5.

The first four batters reached base for Spreckels Park in a three-run seventh with Rudy Cervantez leading off with a single, Babauta walking, Peterson getting a hit and Arredondo singling, scoring Cervantez. Carlos Perez grounded out to plate Babauta and Tyler Holmes drew a bases-loaded walk to force Peterson in to score.

Babauta led off the game with a single and scored on a Joe Bothelio single to give Spreckels Park a 1-0 lead after the first inning.

Ochoa started and pitched into the fourth inning for Spreckels Park, facing just one over the minimum for the first three innings and allowed just three hits. His defense was stellar, with third baseman Rob Karbowski and shortstop Peterson making heads-up plays in the first inning on hard-hit line drives.

On Sunday, Spreckels Park lost 12-0 to Amador County and will face Turlock National today at 5 p.m. in an elimination contest.
