The basketball season continues for four Manteca area teams Wednesday.

The California Interscholastic Federation released brackets for the state tournament Sunday, revealing that the Sierra boys, Ripon boys and Ripon Christian girls are hosting first-round NorCal contests. All three games tip off at 7 p.m.

The Ripon Christian boys, meanwhile, tip off 7:30 at Kezar Pavilion in San Francisco.

Both Sierra (27-3) and Ripon are both coming off losses in the Sac-Joaquin Section finals at Power Balance Pavilion. Sierra lost to Foothill, the No. 3 seed in the NorCal tournament, 74-52 in the SJS Division III finale on Friday. In the Division IV championship Saturday, Ripon was defeated by Trans-Valley League rival Modesto Christian for a third time this season, 68-46.

While Sierra (27-3), which took a 26-game winning streak into the section finals, is glad to open at home, it drew an unfavorable eighth seed in the 13-team bracket. Miramonte (19-9) of Orinda visits Wednesday.

The ninth-seeded Matadors, who are Division III runners-up in the North Coast Section, feature two standout 6-foot-5 forwards in junior Kiran Shastri (23.2 ppg, 7.6 rpg) and Ross Anderson (11 ppg) with 6-3 sophomore Joey Goodreault (12.8 ppg, 3.6 apg) heading the backcourt. They are also Miramonte’s three most prolific 3-point shooters.

The winner gets top-seeded Sacred Heart Cathedral Saturday. The San Francisco-based powerhouse is ranked No. 1 among Division III schools in the state by MaxPreps.com, and No. 10 overall.

Ripon was awarded the fifth seed in Division IV despite an 18-14 record. The Indians square off with No. 12 Gridley (14-13) of the Northern Section. The victor likely faces fourth-seeded Central Valley of Shasta Lake, which downed Gridley 62-46 in the NS finals.

Ripon Christian gets a home-and-away matchup with San Francisco University, with the 10th-seeded boys (23-6) going on the road to encounter the No. 7 Red Devils (20-11).

The Lady Knights (21-5) are seeded seventh and face a University team that is 26-5.
