The Sierra softball team had no problem taking care of business during its opening contests in the Ceres Tournament at Modesto’s Rainbow Fields.
Sierra cruised to a pair of easy victories behind the starting pitching of freshman Allison Walljasper, who struck out 10 in a 6-0 win over Riverbank.
Walljasper was far from done. She held Franklin of Elk Grove in check in a 12-1, striking out eight in just four innings of work.
Walljasper also had two hits in each win, blasting a home run and a double in the win over Franklin.
Daylynn Penner was 2-for-3 in the shutout victory, while teammate Sommer Wilson was 3-for-3 with three RBI.
Iyana Hughes helped the cause by going 4-for-5 in both games combined for Sierra.
Sierra returns to action this afternoon with two more games, first a 3:30: meeting with Turlock, then a 6:30 showdown with former Valley Oak League rival at tournament host Ceres High.
