After dropping four consecutive Valley Oak League contests, the Sierra Timberwolves were able to put a positive performance together in an 8-1 win over the Weston Ranch Cougars Tuesday.

The Timberwolves avoided a series sweep at the hands of the Cougars behind a complete-game effort from sophomore Dakota Conners. Conners was effective for Sierra, holding the Cougars to just six hits over his seven innings of work.

Conners struck out seven in the win and only walked two, surrendering the one and only run to the Cougars in their half of the second. The Timberwolves scratched across a pair in the first and four more in the second, giving Conners all the offensive support he would need. Marc Wilson had the big hit for the Timberwolves, stroking a two-out, two-run single to break things open in the second.

John Waggy was 3 for 4 for Sierra with a pair of RBI, while both Wilson and Dominic Alejandre finished 2 for 3. Senior Rorigo Contreras hit a homerun in the win.

Jared Ferrari led the Cougars with a 2 for 3 effort, including a double.
