Sierra’s boys and girls swimming teams coasted to Valley Oak League wins against undermanned East Union on Thursday.
The Timberwolves’ took the top two places in every individual girls event and won the three relays.
Rylee Danel was among their standouts with wins in the 200-yard freestyle (2 minutes, 30.94 seconds) and 100 breaststroke (1:22.35). Phoebe Burke (50 free, 27.52; 100 free, 1:00.22) took care of the sprints, while Bianca Fraser won the 200 individual medley (2:30.09) and 100 butterfly (1:06.65).
Abby Fraser took first in the 100 backstroke (1:13.96) and second in the 200 IM. Abi Garcia (7:01.44) held off a late charge from teammate Kenidee Bauer (7:02.94) to win the 500 free. Bauer was also the 200 free runner-up. Charlene Trinh took second in the 50 free and 100 free.
East Union was paced by Fatima Cornejo (third, 100 breast; fourth, 200 free) and Jillian Ramirez (third, 100 back; fourth, 100 free).
Logan Busalacchi and Travis Moore were multi-race winners for the Sierra boys. Busalacchi won the 100 free in 1:00.84 and 100 breaststroke in 1:20.63. Moore took first in the 200 IM (2:29.01) and 500 free (6:06.19).
Joel Alvarez (200 free, 2:32.76), Bayan Ballew (50 free, 23.50) and Erick Johnson (100 fly, 1:24.95) each won once race apiece. Erick Murillo placed second in the 200 IM and 100 back.
Alexander Freeman highlighted East Union with a win in the 100 back (1:07.69). He also took second in the 50 free. Sawyer Allen added second-place points in the 100 free and 100 breaststroke.
Sierra also took the JV girls competition, 90-9.
Lydia Johnson (50 fly, 50 breast) and Maria Portilla (50 free, 100 free) each won two events. Kiera Ellis placed first in the 50 back, and Sophia Johnson in the 100 IM.
Sierra next competes in the Ervin Zador Invitational at Oakdale High on March 21.
