TWolves split dual with Tracy

TRACY – The Sierra High swimming program got a convincing 113-57 win over Tracy High on the girls side, but dropped the meet on the boys side 97-73 Friday in non-league action.

Kate Johnston was one of several Timberewolves to earn top-three finishes, collecting a second place finish in the 200 free, while teamamte Sophia Ferreira took second in the 200 individual medley. Julie Maraccini finished second in the 50 free and Devyn Pereza finished as runner-up in the 100 free. Pereza also finsihed second in the 100 free, while Jessica DeGroot took home second place in the 100 back.

Sierra’s relay squads earned second place finishes in the 200 medley, 200 free and the 400 free relay events.

The boys were able to get solid showings from a handful of swimmers, led by Zach Holmstrom’s first place finish in the 100 breast and his second place finish in the 200-IM. John Osborn finished second in the 200 free and Ryan Melton was the top swimmer in the 50 free with a time of 26.06 seconds.
Sierra’s Nick Jamero’s time of 6:37 seconds in the 500-free was good for second place.

The boys team also took second place in both the 200 and 400 free relays.
