Ripon won four out of the five doubles matches at Riverbank and returned home with a 5-4 victory and their perfect Trans-Valley League record still intact.

Riverbank was able to make it close by winning two third-set tiebreakers. Nathaniel Martinez came back to defeat Ripon’s Nathan Machado 4-6, 7-6, 1-0 (7). The Indians’ lone loss at doubles was at No. 2 boys, where Isaiah Sanchez and Will Hollingsworth dropped a competitive 6-4, 2-6, 0-1 (7) match.

Ripon dominated all other doubles matches. The top boys tandem of Bryce Coutrakis and Ian Flanders coasted to a 6-2, 6-1 win. Both all-girls matches were claimed by 6-1, 6-1 scores. Shannon Wesley and Hailey-Rae Rose teamed up for the No. 1 contest, while Teresa Martinez and Alyssa Demara joined forces at No. 2. Davis Armstrong and Hailey Johnson won handily in the mixed doubles match, 6-2, 6-0.

Maddison Flanders accounted for Ripon’s only singles point; she dispatched Riverbank’s Socorro Medina 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 2 showdown.

Jeremy Parks had a chance to force a third set against Juan Alfaro in the battle of No. 1 boys players. Alfaro held off Parks 7-6 (9) in the opening set before shutting the door in the second, 6-1.

Ripon improved to 3-0 in the TVL, while Riverbank dropped to 0-3.
