Manteca’s girls basketball team capped its dominant run through the inaugural Gregori Winter Hoops Classic on Saturday, drubbing the host Jaguars 62-42 for the championship.
The Buffaloes (6-2) overcame a third-quarter charge in which Gregori (4-4) closed to within 11 points, as post players Kerena Malone and Jada Ikharo were benched because of foul trouble.
Guards Marcelina Chaparro and Makayla Kakala helped maintain the double-digit gap. Chaparro finished with 12 points, three steals and three blocks en route to earning MVP honors, and Kakala fired a game-high 18 points.
Malone contributed 12 points, nine boards and three blocks and was named to the all-tournament team. Ikharo added 12 rebounds. Brooke Agdoma chipped in eight points and three steals.
Manteca resumes its pre-league schedule tonight at McNair.
Lathrop 36, Pitman 26
The Spartans (5-3) placed third in the Delta Queens Classic at Stagg High.
They held Pitman (1-7) to two points in the first quarter and led 16-9 at halftime. Tatiana Lowery led them with 12 points.

Santa Cruz 73, Ripon Christian 57
The Cardinals (5-3) from the Central Coast Section took control from the outset of the fifth-place game in Central Catholic’s Mark Gallo Invitational.
Eli Terpsma led Ripon Christian (4-3) with 20 points, and Luke Crivello had 14. Aden Curry scored 17 for Santa Clara. Demeke Smith and Kirby Seals contributed 14 apiece. Crivello and Smith each drained four 3-pointers.
