Weston Ranch’s boys tennis team improved to 2-0 in Valley Oak League play with its near shutout of visiting Sonora Thursday.

The Cougars rolled to an 8-1 victory, their only loss coming from the No. 1 singles match between Kevin Yamayoshi and Sonora’s Josh Smith. Yamayoshi dropped the only three-set match of the contest, 6-3, 3-6, 4-6.

Suhkman Singh earned a 6-4, 6-1 win in the second singles match, dispatching Andrew Klatt. Carl Legaspi (6-4, 6-3), Ray Lagoc (6-3, 6-3) and Chai Saepharn (6-2, 6-3) prevailed in competitive two-set showdowns. Josh Gonzales dominated to a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 6 singles.

The No. 1 doubles tandem of Andre Albino and Arnold Andrade coasted, 6-3, 6-1. Ion Ibiso and Tejpaul Baniwall took the No. 2 match, 6-2, 6-0. Mark Legaspi and Sam Malhi was by forfeiture.
