Bobrovsky shuts down Hurricanes as Blue Jackets win

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 46 shots — including 22 in the second period — to get his sixth shutout of the season, and the Columbus Blue Jackets beat the Carolina Hurricanes 3-0 on Friday night.

Adam McQuaid, David Savard and Josh Anderson scored for the Blue Jackets, who pulled even with the Hurricanes for the two wild cards in the Eastern Conference.

TORONTO (AP) — Auston Matthews scored twice in the third period as Toronto held on after rallying from a three-goal deficit.

Jake Muzzin had two goals and an assist, and Patrick Marleau, Zach Hyman and Martin Marincin also scored to for the Maple Leafs, who had five consecutive goals to take the lead after trailing 5-2. 


GOLDEN KNIGHTS 2, STARS 1

DALLAS (AP) — Ryan Reaves scored the tiebreaking goal early in the third period, and Vegas beat Dallas.

Max Pacioretty scored in the opening minute of the game for Vegas, and Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 40 shots — including 16 in the third period — for his 35th win. The Golden Knights have won seven of eight to remain third in the Pacific Division.

AVALANCHE 3

DENVER (AP) — Corey Perry scored twice, including the go-ahead goal with 56.9 seconds remaining, to lead Anaheim.

Perry knocked in the winner shortly after Mikko Rantanen was whistled for a high-sticking penalty. Hampus Lindholm added an empty-netter to seal the victory.

CALGARY, Alberta (AP) — Matthew Tkachuk scored two goals and had a career-high five points to lead Calgary.

Johnny Gaudreau, Garnet Hathaway and Michael Frolik also scored for Calgary, which moved one point ahead of San Jose for the Pacific Division lead with 11 games to go. David Rittich had 24 saves.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — Damon Severson scored in the seventh round of the shootout to give New Jersey a win after rallying from two goals down.

Kevin Rooney and Stefan Noesen scored 7:53 apart in the third period to tie the score.
