Ports fend off JetHawks comeback

LANCASTER (AP) — Greg Deichmann hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning, leading the Stockton Ports to a 6-4 win over the Lancaster JetHawks on Wednesday.

The home run by Deichmann scored Viosergy Rosa and Edwin Diaz to give the Ports a 3-1 lead.

After Lancaster added a run in the fourth on a double by Alan Trejo, the JetHawks tied the game in the fifth inning when Manuel Melendez hit an RBI single, scoring Max George.

The Ports took the lead for good in the sixth when Cobie Vance hit an RBI single, bringing home Collin Theroux.

Lancaster saw its comeback attempt come up short after Vince Fernandez scored on a ground out in the sixth inning to cut the Stockton lead to 6-4.

Starter Evan Manarino (4-6) got the win while Heath Holder (8-1) took the loss in relief in the California League game. Angel Duno retired the side in order for his 15th save of the season.
