LAS VEGAS (AP) — Silvano Alves won the world title and the aggregate crown Sunday in the Professional Bull Riders World Finals.

Alves, from Pilar Do Sul, Brazil, was the only cowboy to ride all six of his bulls. He remained on the top of the event leaderboard with an 85.5-point effort on Hokey Pokey in the fifth round and an 87.25 on Asteroid in the sixth.

“Las Vegas is very important to the world championship races,” said Alves, who also won world crowns in 2011 and 2012. “This year, I was unable to win any other events, so it was awesome to come to Las Vegas and win a championship. So, Las Vegas was very, very important for me.”

Alves earned $1 million for the world championship and $250,000 bonus as the winner of the six-round event at Thomas & Mack Center.

Brazil’s Joao Ricardo Vieira led Alves in the world standings by 534.69 points entering the day. But Vieira was bucked off of his two bulls, allowing Alves to overtake him. Alves finished with 12,611 points, and Vieira was second with 10,673.

Alves took the event title for the first time, finishing with 501 points. Defending world champion J.B. Mauney of Mooresville, North Carolina, was second at 453.5, and J.W. Harris third at 361.

Mauney, who broke his jaw in the fourth round, had an 88-point ride on Mr. Bull to finish second in the fifth round and won the sixth with a 94 on Percolator.

Bushwacker won the World Champion Bull Award for second straight year and third time in four seasons. Bushwacker, who has only been ridden by Mauney and L.J. Jenkins, was 14 for 14 in buckoffs this year.
