Tomasovich induces flyout, leads Ports to win over SJ

STOCKTON  (AP) — Andrew Tomasovich got Gio Brusa to fly out with the bases loaded to end the game, leading the Stockton Ports to a 5-4 win over the San Jose Giants on Monday.

Down 1-0 in the second, San Jose grabbed the lead when Matt Winn hit a two-run home run.

After Stockton added two runs in the second, the Ports added to their lead in the sixth inning when Dairon Blanco hit an RBI triple and then scored on a sacrifice fly by Luke Persico.

The Giants saw their comeback attempt come up short after Jacob Heyward and Bryce Johnson hit RBI singles in the eighth and ninth innings to cut the Stockton lead to 5-4.

Parker Dunshee (6-2) went 6 2/3 innings, allowing three runs and six hits to pick up the win. He also struck out nine and walked one. Conner Menez (2-5) went five innings, allowing three runs and three hits in the California League game. He also struck out two and walked three.

Blanco tripled twice, scoring two runs in the win.
