Modesto Rams hold varsity to 6 in DYSA semifinal

Anthony Contreras pulled in a 44 yard touchdown pass from Joseph Espinosa for the lone Manteca Cowboys score in a 14-6 third-round DYSA loss to the Modesto Rams at Stagg High School on Sunday.

Contreras had two receptions for 73 yards and Espinosa was 4 for 10 passing for 88 yards. Antonio Montero had 10 carries for 42 yards.

Alex Alexander led the Manteca defense with seven tackles. Contreras added seven tackles, Nick Stanley five, Andrew Mount, A.J. Martinez and Klayton Torres four and Espinosa three.

 

Junior varsity

Jr. Kings 34, Cowboys 21

Kimoni Stanley was the workhorse for the Cowboys with 95 yards on 13 carries with a touchdown.

Shane Crawford (12 carries, 30 yards) added a rushing touchdown and Eric Morales gained 38 yards on three carries and threw for a touchdown. 

Asiah Scott led the Manteca defense with 12 tackles. Shane Crawford and Ronnie Ray Jr. added seven stops apiece, Jamari Muligan and Stanley (interception) six each and Nicco Cedolini (blocked kick), Brady Geaney, Joey Aguirre, Jaden Tanforan and Anthony Salicido all had three tackles apiece.

Ivan Montanez (fumble recovery), Christopher Garcia, Leo Bonilla, Frank Clark, Justin Mount, Trey Bridewell and Preston Church all contributed on defense for the Cowboys.
